HANDCARVED HOOKS is a one-woman studio that transforms fallen branches into beautiful, functional fiber craft tools. Each hand-carved hook or knitting needle become both a practical instrument for your yarn work and a miniature piece of art—rustic, intentional, and entirely unique.
MEET ROUX
I’ve always been drawn to forests—those quiet places where you can think, breathe, and notice things. Walking through the woods, I became fascinated by fallen branches: their weathered surfaces, the story held in their grain, the way nature had already done so much of the work. There was a story there.
One day, I realized these branches could become something purposeful. They felt like friends my hands already knew. It took me a moment to realize my fingers wanted to knit with them. So I started carving, and what began as an experiment became a passion. Each hook is born from a walk through the forest, from picking up what’s been naturally offered, and continuing the piece of work as a collaboration with nature.
There’s something sacred about working with your hands to make something both useful and beautiful. About creating tools for other makers. About honoring the tree it once was. I carve every hook thinking about your studio, your practice, your hands holding this tool while you create something meaningful and it feels like a circle of inspiration between us all. And also like WE are the fiber work, connected through the threads of this story.
These aren’t mass-produced. They’re made slowly, one at a time, infused with intention. Because the instruments of your craft deserve to be as thoughtful and real as the work you make.
Welcome to my Roux Studios.
To create thoughtfully hand-carved fiber craft tools from repurposed branches—transforming what nature offers into beautiful, functional instruments for makers who value intention, craft, and sustainability.
A world where the tools we use to create are as meaningful and artful as the work we make. Where makers hold hooks carved with care, and where every instrument tells the story of the tree it came from and creates a more connected world.
I walk through forests looking for fallen branches—pieces that speak to me. Back in the studio, I listen to each wood's character: its grain, its weight, its natural curves. I carve by hand, sometimes rustic, sometimes art pieces. No two are ever the same.
Totally honored when Vogue Knitting editors selected my hand-carved hooks for their official GIFT LIST for makers. To be recognized among the finest tools in the industry felt like a true celebration of my craft and a full circle moment from being inspired by their magazine to being recommended by the editors.
Being highlighted in a magazine reaching makers everywhere felt like sharing the beauty of hand-carved design with a wider community. To see my Swarovski® crochet hook earrings recognized for their beautiful luxury detail brought my work to makers who appreciate that their tools can be as gorgeous as their projects and I gush.
