Below is some helpful information to guide you through our store and help you find the right knitting and crochet essentials for your projects.
Wood stays warm in your hands (never cold like metal or clammy like acrylic), reduces hand fatigue over hours of work, and provides natural grip that prevents slipping. Each tool is carved from a single piece of wood, making it structurally sound and completely unique. These aren’t just tools—they’re heirloom pieces built to last generations.
With proper care, decades. I seal every tool with protective finish, and the natural durability of woods like oak and birch means they improve with age, developing a beautiful patina. Many customers pass them down as heirloom pieces.
All of my painted and wood-burned designs are sealed with professional-grade protective finish. With normal use, the artwork will last for years. Like any well-loved tool, minor surface wear can occur and if you ever feel like your tools need a “SPA DAY”, send them back for a painting and sealing refresh!
Yes! 100% compatible. My tips feature KnitPro-crafted metal threading and smooth swivel connectors. They work seamlessly with KnitPro cables, Knit Picks, and other brands using the same threading system. You can use my hand-carved tips with your existing cable collection! You can check interchangeable needles here.
Rustic hooks celebrate the wood’s natural state—I leave bark accents, visible grain, and organic texture. Painted/art hooks feature hand-painted designs or wood-burning, transforming the wood into a canvas. Both are sealed and functional. It’s purely about aesthetic preference and whether you want nature’s art or human artistry.

All wood is sustainably sourced from my own landscape and local properties—branches trimmed seasonally, fallen wood, or wood from trees being removed for other reasons. I never harm living trees just for crafting. Most of the wood comes from properties in Florida’s wild landscape—think cypress swamps, oak groves, and pine stands. But when I travel, I do collect wood, and many branches have come home with me from adventures. The mountains of Montana have gifted me Silver Maple, Downy Birch, River Birch, and Aspen. Each piece carries the story of the tree that grew it, the place it grew, and the journey that brought it to your hands.
Absolutely. Every piece of wood is sustainably sourced—I use branches from seasonal trimming, fallen wood, and material from trees being removed for other reasons. I never cut down living trees just for crafting. All wood is harvested responsibly. I use eco-friendly packaging and minimal waste practices. Each hook is a small act of honoring the forest rather than depleting it. You’re choosing tools that give back to nature’s story rather than taking from it.
Yes! I can create completely organic tools. None of the wood I use has ever been treated with pesticides or chemicals. During the custom order consultation, let me know you want an organic piece, and for the finish, I will apply a natural beeswax or food-safe finishing oil. These tools embrace the wood in its purest form. Care instructions will be provided to you since there are some extra keeping and care rituals to include for your special tool.
Use my Custom Order form, email me directly, or DM on Instagram. Share your vision, wood preference, size, design ideas, inspiration images—and I’ll schedule a consultation to refine the details and provide a quote. No obligation to purchase.
Custom orders typically take 2-6 weeks, depending on complexity and current schedule (Christmas is a busy time!). Intricate carvings (like animal toppers) or detailed paintings may take longer. I will give you an estimated timeline during your consultation and keep you updated throughout the process.
Absolutely! I work with oak, Australian pine, camphor, birch, pine, cypress, zebra wood, silver maple, azalea, and seasonal finds. Wood availability varies based on what I harvest from my landscape. During custom consultations, I can discuss what’s currently available and what best suits your vision.
I love making sister hooks! Let me know during ordering, and I’ll carve your hooks from the same branch so the grain lines flow through both. Perfect for gifts or keeping one while giving one to someone special. Same tree, same roots, shared story.
Each piece is one-of-a-kind, so exact replication isn’t possible (different wood grain, slight variations in hand-painting). However, I can create a piece in the same style, color palette, or theme. It will be done as a “2nd or 3rd in series” artpiece, not a duplicate.
All art hooks come with a Certificate of Authenticity documenting the wood type, creation date, and your tool’s place in the Hand Carved Hooks collection. I can include gift messages and wrap orders as gifts upon request, mention it during checkout.
Yes. I’ve created hooks and needles incorporating wood from meaningful trees (family property, memorial plantings, etc.). Contact me directly to discuss your vision these pieces are handled with extra care and reverence.
For a sealed tool, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after use. Avoid soaking in water or exposing to extreme temperatures. Store away from direct sunlight and heat sources. The wood may develop a natural patina over time—this is normal and adds character. No special oils or treatments needed; my finish does the work.
For raw wood sealed with beeswax, gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth after each use to remove any residue. Reapply a thin layer of beeswax or a food-grade oil (such as olive oil) once or twice a year to maintain the seal and prevent drying out—simply rub it on with a clean cloth and buff off any excess. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading or cracking, and keep away from water or moisture, as the wood can absorb it and warp. Store in a cool, dry place, and be mindful that pets like cats or dogs may be tempted to chew on it (it’s a stick!), so keep it out of their reach. Over time, the wood will develop a beautiful patina that enhances its natural charm.
Minor surface imperfections add character and don’t affect functionality. For deeper issues, contact me. I offer repair services for my tools. Remember, these are artisan pieces meant to be used and loved, not kept pristine in a case, unless of course that’s your thing!
They’re sealed to handle normal use, including slightly damp hands or humid environments. However, avoid submerging in water or leaving them wet for extended periods. If they do get wet, dry immediately with a soft cloth.
Aromatic woods like camphor and cedar will retain subtle scent for years, though it mellows with time and handling. This is natural and part of the wood’s character. Sizing & Fit
